Goldfish and cookies

recently i got an email from a reader named jan from durholwn, north carolina. she's a loyal reader and great gardener. i thought i'd share the email with you:

Lynn,

First off I justed wanted to let you know that my kids and I adore your blog.
Also, i wanted to know how you get your chocolate chip cookies so soft and
chewy? Please Lynn! What's your secret?!?!

A reader, but Friend first,
Jan from Durholwn, North Carolina

well jan, the secret to my cookies is the same as the secret to why my goldfish, taco is still alive after 4 years.
pay little to close attention to them. cookies have natural instincts. they'll figure it out on there own.

i had two goldfish---one named roger clemens, the other was skinny guy. not surprisingly, roger clemens ate all of the food that i left for both him and skinny guy. He died. I bought two smaller fish (the mini guys) to replace clemens, and to occupy skinny guy's time; but in an amazing turn of events, skinny guy essentially turned into roger clemens, eating all of the mini-guys' food. He died shortly thereafter.

It is not a surprise that the mini guys are also now dead.

that my blog readers is the example of a perfect story. congrats massimo. i both laughed and cried.

however i am saddened that you feel the need to compare your fish to my fish. taco isn't even a fish. he's a fish superpower.
